Japan big earthquake

Mar 12, 2011

While I was busy with packing stuff to meet the deadline next week, Japan was hit by the biggest earthquake in more than 100 years. The tsunami that followed 10~20 minutes after that contributed to more casualties and damage.

As I was watching the news this morning, my heart sank deeper looking at the damages along the coastline. Though we are included in the tsunami high alert area, Alhamdulillah, we are all fine so far. Thank you to all my friends' doa and prayers...my family and I, as far as I know the Malaysians in my area are all good.

I have experienced the Kobe earthquake in 1995, this time is even bigger. It affects huge area. The TV reporters are usually cool while reporting but we can feel that they are shaking and trembling while reporting live in the affected area. They must have been overwhelmed...
We have important stuffs like passport, food and drinks prepared just in case we need to evacuate.

Hopefully everything will be fine. Insyaallah. I will keep you updated. Thank you all!

Dear i amsterdam,
It was indeed horrendous. I am still shocked watching the live news. We hope everything will be OK. But I bet, the people over there will need many more years to go back to normal state.
Thanks i amsterdam!

Dear Labyrinth,
Thank you for your concern. Mazliza and her family is fine. Yes, in deed. Anyone who watches the latest news would be stunned looking at the disaster caused by the tsunami...

Dear TK,
We are alright. Thank you. We are leading normal life now. The roads, the shops are all opened. But with disasters happening not too far from our place, takde mood nak buat apa2. Sepatutnya kena buat last minute packing...It's a heavy feeling watching the tv.
Do take care too! It's said to affect Phillipines, Sabah and East coast of Malaysia. Do observe the sea. Take care there too!

Aunty Nana,
Worst earthquake in 140 years....actually I'm very worried about the animals there. Not that I don't care about humans....but animals are more vulnerable as they can be helpless when disaster strikes. Can't forget the blind cat we met in Acheh in the aftermath of the previous tsunami.... Cepat2 balik Aunty Nana! purrr....meow!

Dear Cat-in-Sydney,
It is heart wrenching to watch the live broadcast. The tsunami scale is huge. Commentator said the scale is bigger than Acheh's. In the tv, they showed a dog looking frantically for its owner. It made me cry. At the same time we saw some pets being saved by the rescuers too. I have lost the mood to pack! Really saddened by this disaster...

Alhamdullilah u n family are alright..
The tsunami reminds me of those moments i was holidaying in Phuket when the tsunami struck..
I was actually on a boat cruise to Phi Phi Island.. Thank God we survived it. It was horrifiying to see the disaster and send me shivers down the spine each time we hear about tsunami . do take care and we pray for ur safe arrival back to msia soon.. Take care..

Dear Kak Naz,
Thank you for your concern. We are fine. In fact, our prefecture was not badly affected. It was reported that tsunami as high as one meter hit our coast. But then if compared to tsunami more than 10meters in the affected areas, we are very much protected this time. Alhamdulillah. Thank you Kak Naz! We can't wait to go home.

Dear Sofea,
Oh dear, so you have experienced the Tsunami? It must have been hard. I heard that people who are not strong mentally could go into depression witnessing the incidence. Even the rescuers, they thought they were strong enough but being at the location is definitely difficult. watching hundreds of bodies floating...It must be painful. Yes, we are very much looking forward to going home. My parents are very worried.

A week later after tht tsunami, i had the opportunity to go to Acheh on a mission trip.
One experience i wil never forget in my entire life..There was an Indonesian lady carrying her few months old baby , offering me her child and asking me to bring her back to Malaysia . She had lost her home , her husband and everything she had. And she hoped that the child would have a better future wit me. I was so moved , but sadly i coudnt help.. It was so touching.. cant forget til today ..

Dear Cat-in-Sydney,
I have e-mailed your mama. Ask anything at all. :)

Dear Sofea,
Ahh...it must be painful for the mom to leave the child but a mum would do anything just for the baby though it may been separation from her forever. Yes, it is very touching. It's experience like that that makes us realize that life is short. And anything can be taken away from us in an instance. Cherish every moment with the loved ones. Perhaps that's the best we can do for the family.

dropping by bertanya khabar, semoga semuanya dalam keadaan baik di sana.

Take care ye :-)

Hi Nana, was worried about you and family. Hope you all okay.
Gosh! Japan this time got 3 strikes! All bad ones too.
Our TV day and night on Japan and especially that nuclear problems.

Its really sad to see the devastation, of homes, lives lost.
But something that has struck everyone from TV and the media .....one word never said or spoken...mentioned, is 'looting'.
Unlike some countries, there'll be unscrupulous people taking advantage of the situation.

Nana, you and family stay safe, ya! My thoughts are with you and family.
Lee.

Dear Sofea,
We are quite far away from the region. We will go back as planned (not any earlier). I am glad Malaysian government has made some move. Anyway, thanks a lot for your reminder. We'll be back soon. Insyaallah...

Nana said...

Dear Cheqna,
Thanks for dropping by. We are doing good here. Leading a normal life. We'll be back next week! Insyaallah...

Dear Lee,
Thanks for your concern. We are doing quite well here. Our place is quite isolated from the Honshu island. We can't wait to go back to Malaysia. My prayers to the people here who are staying back. Hopefully the condition will improve. Thanks again. :)
