Vacation diary (part 2)

Jan 5, 2011

We disembarked at the Port of Tokyo at around 5am. From there it only took less than 30 minutes for us to get to our destination~ Tokyo Disney Resort.

Tokyo Disney Resort is a theme park and vacation resort located in Urayasu, Chiba, Japan. It is operated with a license from The Walt Disney Company. The resort opened on April 15, 1983, as a single theme park (Tokyo Disneyland), but developed into a resort with two theme parks (Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, three Disney hotels (Ambassador hotel, Miracosta hotel and Tokyo Disneyland hotel) and a shopping complex. Did you know that Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea are the only Disney theme parks not owned by The Walt Disney Company?

Tokyo Disney Resort has three main entertainment sections: Tokyo Disneyland, Tokyo DisneySea and Ikspiari, which is a variation of the Downtown Disney shopping, dining and entertainment area found at the Disney Resorts in California and Florida.

In October 2008, the resort opened a new theater housing an original Cirque du Soleil production named Zed.

Our accommodation on the first day was Tokyo Disneyland Hotel.
Tokyo Disneyland Hotel is the third Disney-brand hotel of the Tokyo Disney Resort opened in July 2008. It is located directly in front of the Tokyo Disneyland park with the Tokyo Disneyland station of the Disney Resort Line monorail system in between. The hotel was designed to reflect early 20th century Victorian architectural style, and to blend seamlessly with the World Bazaar area of Tokyo Disneyland, the monorail station and the main entrance area.

Hotel Disneyland hotel is well known for its year round astoundingly high occupancy. We were lucky enough to have booked a room on the 30th of December. We managed to get it by calling the booking hotline every day until a few days prior to our departure. We owed it to the person who had to cancel the hotel booking last minute. :)

We knew exactly why the hotel was popular the instant we reached the hotel's entrance. The hotel was just amazing, awesome, astonishing! To be exact, there was no word that could describe how I felt at that time.

I will tell you why...

The friendly and helpful bellhop

Beautiful interiors...

Even the floor was nice!

Fairy tale like decorations...

Tiny details that would make anyone smiles...

Who can resist these doll houses??

Not forgetting the paintings of Disney characters who are still dear to our hearts

The Lady and the Tramp...cute!

Kids friendly environment

Disney channel for kids while the parents busy with check-ins

And most important of all,

Images of Mickey everywhere!

Mickey statue welcoming the guests...

Cool eh?

After completed the check-in procedure we headed straight to the Disneyland's entrance though Disneyland was not scheduled to open until 20 minutes later.

But just look at the crowd! To think that we were among the earliest ones. Tsk tsk tsk...

The first 'Mickey' we saw after entering the park...

As Disneyland was exceptionally crowded at the end of the year, we didn't take too much time lingering around as that would only prolong our waiting time for the rides. We decided to move straight to the Tomorrowland. Tomorrowland is one of the 7 themed lands in Tokyo Disneyland. The seven themed lands, in anticlockwise direction were World Bazaar, Tomorrowland, Toontown, Fantasyland, Critter country, Westernland and Adventureland.

We walked straight to the most popular ride. The Monsters, inc. ride and go seek ride.

But as you can see on the board, it would require 190 minutes waiting time if you lined up. So, we decided to take fastpass instead. With the fastpass ticket, you just need to come at the designated time and that guarantees you very minimum waiting time.

While mommy queuing for the fastpass tickets, someone spotted Stitch!

The Monsters, inc. car

We next went to Grand circuit raceway where you can get behind the wheel of a race car and test your skills against a challenging course of twists and turns. Sya and daddy raced with me and Sya won! (shhh....actually I let him win!)

The race car...

Next, we went to the Toontown. Among the attractions in Toontown were: Mickey and Minnie's house, Goofy's house, Chip n' Dale's tree house Donald's house and Roger Rabbit car toon spin.

Everything was very cartoon-ish!

But just look at the crowd!! Gosh...
Roger Rabbit's fountain

Goofy's house

Chip n' Dale's tree house

So cute!

Roasting chestnuts

Chestnuts everywhere...:)

Miss Daisy's Toon Lake

Mickey's fountain

Sya posing with characters' cars...

While mommy queuing for popcorn...for more than 30 minutes!

There were buildings like City Hall and bank too!

Then as the clock stroke twelve, these characters appeared from the city hall!

We obviously didn't want to miss the opportunity to take pictures with these characters!

First it was Pluto

Max...

Chip n' Dale

Uncle Scrooge

then Big bad wolf. Please don't pull my tongue! Haha...

Our next destination was Fantasyland.

It's a small world ride

Alice in Wonderland themed restaurant.

Joining in Alice's tea party

While strolling to the next destination. Mommy finally spotted her Prince Charming!

and a very tall prince too!

Wendy darling...note that Sya was not interested. Mama yg lebih-lebih. ;)

Alice and the Mad hatter

We next headed to the entrance where we found,

John Worthington Foulfellow

Goofy

Pinocchio

Jimmy Cricket

Cinderella

Love you Mr Grumpy!

Friar Tuck

The White rabbit

And finally, Winnie the Pooh! Sya's favorite character!

We left and came back to Disneyland later in the evening for Monsters, inc. ride and Haunted mansion (Both using fastpass tickets).

Haunted mansion...very entertaining!

Then Sya requested to have another race...

Sya insisted me to take a pic of this robot-like vending machines at Tomorrowland...

We then waited for Tokyo Disneyland electrical parade Dreamlights which was scheduled to start at 7.30pm.

Awesome!

Soon after the electrical parade we headed to Cinderella castle waiting for the next event scheduled at 8.30pm, the Magical fireworks.

The lighting of the castle changed form purple, blue then green. Just simply marvelous!

The fireworks started exactly at 8.30pm.

Among the many shots of the fireworks. It was magical!

We left the Disneyland not long after that since Sya was getting a little tired.

Beautiful hotel to welcome us home...

A mind blowing experience it was...

Dear Cat-in-Sydney/KL,
Ohh...don't you hurt those mice. They are the icons there! Besides, they are good friends with the Aristocats you know. Unfortunately we didn't see them this time around. :)
